Jennie Webb is an independent Los Angeles writer whose plays, including
Anticipating Leftovers, Remodeling Plans,
The Complete Story of the War, Men & Boxes,
Tilting, Buying a House and
Unclaimed Assets, have been presented on stages and
in/at/around alternative venues throughout the U.S. and internationally at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her works have been published by Heinemann
Press and International Centre for Women Playwrights, and supported by the now
defunct A.S.K. Theater Projects, The Playwrights Center in Minneapolis' prestigious
PlayLabs, the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights and The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum.
At Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum she is currently playwright-in-residence,
has created and runs "Botanicum Seedlings: A Development Series for Playwrights." This
new play program is focused on the needs of the playwright, supporting emerging
and established writers across the country and around the globe. Since
2002, Seedlings has presented over 80 readings and workshops of plays at various
stages of — 50% written by women.
Jennie is also co-founder and an instigator of the Los Angeles Female Playwrights
Initiative, an LA-based movement working to ensure that women playwrights are fairly
represented on local stages and beyond, and a proud member of The Playwrights Union
and LA's Rogue Machine Theatre, where her play Yard Sale Signs
is receiving its world premiere.
