Leesa Freed arrived in Los Angeles from Cincinnati
with a singular passion for live theatre. Following a short stint as an
actor, she became a stage manager and earned her Equity card in 1998 while
working on Storybook Theatre at Theatre West. Leesa recently stage managed
her 18th production of Storybook Theatre.
Leesa currently calls The Colony Theatre home, where she is in rehearsal
for her 18th production Visiting Mr. Green. Other Colony credits
include the crowd pleasing 2 Pianos 4 Hands, and the multi-award-winning
productions of Trying and Toys in the Attic.
In addition, Leesa has stage managed numerous awards shows and benefits,
most notably for Actors’ Fund and S.T.A.G.E,the longest running annual
AIDS benefit.
Other stage managing credits include The Geffen Playhouse,
The Rubicon Theatre, The Victory Theatre, Off Broadway, and Impact at
Ford Field, the grand opening event at Ford Field in Detroit .
In 2007, Leesa made her producing debut with the critically acclaimed Betty
Garrett, Closet Songwriter at Theatre West. She was also honored
to chair Betty Garrett’s 90th Birthday Bash at The Music Box @ Fonda
in Hollywood this past May.
It has always been a passion of Leesa’s to keep women involved in the
theatre. Whenever possible, she is proud to have her crew staffed entirely
by women. In addition to her many theatrical roles, Leesa practices law.
