Marilyn Fox is the Artistic Director of Pacific Resident
Theatre where she most recently directed Fata Morgana. As an actress,
she played Lady Torrance in Orpheus Descending at PRT, for which she won
the Best Actress Award from the LADCC. Other roles include Bessie Berger
in Awake and Sing! at the Pittsburgh Public Theatre and at the Berkshire
Theatre Festival, Esther Franz in Arthur Millerís The Price at the Laguna
Playhouse (Robbie Award). She also appeared at PRT in Molnarís The Swan
(Garland Award and LA Drama Critics Circle (LADCC) nomination for Performance). She
appeared both in PRTís productions of Ivanov and The Quick-Change Room,
the latter moving from Los Angeles to Off-Broadway (LADCC and Garland
Awards).
She was nominated by the LADCC for Best Direction of both Golden Boy
and Playboy of the Western World. She won the LADCC Award for Best Performance
for her role as Bessie Berger in Awake and Sing! at the Odyssey Theatre,
and the LADCC Award for Direction for the PRT production of Ondine.
Marilyn directed The Seagull at the Powerhouse Theatre,
The Glass Menagerie at the Laguna Playhouse and was Associate Director
for The Visit at PRT. As an actress, she has appeared locally at South
Coast Repertory, the Westwood Playhouse and the Odyssey. Other favorite
performances include Three Sisters, Mother’s Day, The Beggar’s Opera,
and Camino Real.
On TV, she has been seen on Judging Amy, Partners, Picket Fences, Down
the Shore, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and many more. She is the recipient
of the LA Weekly Career Achievement Award in 2004.
