Theatre 40 was founded in 1964 and is considered one
of the oldest and among the most respected of all the professional 99
seat theaters in all of Los Angeles and is the only theatre company in
Beverly Hills. Two of the four founders of Theatre 40 were women - Ms.
Susan French and Ms. Kathrine Henryk.
Theatre 40 located in the beautiful, elegant and intimate Reuben Cordova
Theatre on the campus of the Beverly Hills High School. Theatre 40 has
produced over 400 professional productions over the years and has won
over 150 drama critic’s awards for excellence in production, including
the rarely awarded Margaret Harford Award for the Los Angeles Drama Critics
Circle for sustained excellence.
Over the years, Theatre 40’s menu of plays has become more eclectic,
and the quality of productions have been finely tuned. As we continue
our 44th Anniversary Season, Theatre 40 continues their tradition of innovation
by making excellent choices in the material selected, to entertain and
stimulate the community we serve as well as all of Los Angeles theater
