ADILAH BARNES is
an award winning actor with over 30 years experience
and is best known for her role as Anne
Marie on "Roseanne" for
five seasons. She is the co-founder of the Los
Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival, an
annual, multi-cultural festival that showcases
female artists.
Barnes has also toured, both nationally and internationally
and her one-woman play, "I Am That I Am:
Woman, Black," a historical journey
into the lives of seven renowned
women including Sojourner Truth and Maya Angelou.
Listed among the who’s who in The Actors’ Guide
to Qualified Acting Coaches by Larry Silverberg,
Barnes has coached some of Hollywood’s
hottest stars. As a writer, Barnes recently completed
her
first book On My Own Terms: One Actor’s
Journey. Barnes began her stage career as
a teen in Project
Upward Bound at California State University,
Chico. Notable stage credits include Martha Pentecost
in
August Wilson’s "Joe Turner’s
Come and Gone." Barnes earned her B.A.
in Theatre Arts
at the
University of California, Santa Cruz. Additionally,
she is a lecturer, workshop facilitator, keynote
speaker and panelist. She most recently appeared
on CBS’ Cold Case episode, “Strange
Fruit” and
HBO’s critically acclaimed "Iron-Jawed
Angels." Other television credits include
"For the People,"
"Gilmore Girls," "Roswell," "The Agency," "Family
Law," "City of Angels," "Any Day Now," "Suddenly
Susan," and
"Mad About
You." Her film credits include "Murder
By Numbers," "Erin Brockovich," and
CBC Hallmark made for-TV
movie, "Little John."
