DEANNE BRAY is an award-winning actress, innovative educator
and inspiring role model. She is also Deaf.
Born into a hearing family, she developed two languages
through extensive training – Spoken English and American
Sign Language. With her mother’s loving support, Deanne
became a positive person who believes she can do and be
anything she puts her heart into.
Deanne’s extensive stage credits include the critically
acclaimed World Premiere musical Sleeping Beauty Wakes (Kirk
Douglas Theatre – Featured Performance nomination, LA
Drama Critics Circle), Big River (Deaf West – Best
Supporting Actress Award, Valley Theatre League), Road to
Revolution (Deaf West – Best Actress Nomination, Robby
Awards) and The House of Bernarda Alba (Best Ensemble, LA
Weekly). She received Theatre LA/Ovation Award Nominations
for Best Adaptation/Translation, translating the English of
Oliver! into American Sign Language.
On television, Deanne starred for three seasons in the
precedent-setting series “Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye,” and has
guest starred in numerous series including “CSI,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Law & Order: Criminal
Intent.”
As an educator, Deanne has taught science and math to deaf
and hard of hearing students, receiving the East Los Angeles Teacher’s Award. She created “The Little Bookworm
Club,” a literacy program for deaf and hard of hearing
children. Most recently, she co-hosted and produced a 3
DVD set, “You’re Pregnant: What to Expect” with voice-over, subtitles and ASL. She is completing her Masters in Education.
Deanne is married to award-winning Deaf actor Troy Kotsur
and is the proud mother of their beautiful daughter, Kyra.
