THE WRITERS
GROUP -
"We are writers, actors, editors and directors who
want to
share the
creative
process of bringing to life plays, screenplays, prose
and poetry. We bring our material into the theater,
pass it out to members, read it cold then comment on
it.
Our efforts are to provide a safe place for our members
to participate in the development process. We encourage
our actors to trust themselves and make bold choices.
We ask members to give positive notes so that the writer
is invigorated and profits from the experience.
We encourage
and support members participating in public performances
of works-in-progress, staged
readings,
or full scale productions of completed works developed
in
the group. And we help each other to learn, publish,
sell and produce through networking.
The group was
founded by a few transplanted New York actors and
writers in July of 1990. The profile of
the group changes over the years as members come
and go,
and we have had a prolific amount of material work
its way into the marketplace.
Our Purpose
is to bring the writer’s material out
of the closet and into the world so it can flourish
and to give our actors a safe place to develop their
skills."
