Dawn Grabowski, recipient of The Norman G. Brooks Comedy
Competition (2002), and the Christopher Reeve Acting
Scholarship Competition (1998), has written, produced, sole-financed,
performed and presented Always
Going Up (her one-woman autobiographical play). This play was presented
for over four years, to the Los Angeles After School
Programs for Children through the non-profit Enrichment Works.
Ms. Grabowski received her “first big break” in 1996 when she appeared
in the movie Jerry Maguire with Tom Cruise. She went on to create
a 35mm short entitled Shattering Images. Shattering Images was
critically acclaimed, winning several awards. Her
current project is her full-length digital feature
film entitled Dangerous
Perceptions in
which she created, starred, wrote, produced, co-directed,
and financed (largely thru in-kind-donation). Dangerous Perceptions is
currently looking for Distribution. She hopes Dangerous Perceptions will
first and foremost entertain, as well as enlighten,
individuals about persons with disabilities.
Ms Grabowski has published a 2009 calendar featuring The Golden Age
Women in Film. She plans to expand this project next year. At present,
she is in the process of completing a manuscript describing the experiences
of an Indie Film producer and is currently searching for a publisher.
Ms. Grabowski has a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Stetson University and
in September of 2007 she received her B.S. in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan
University.
